A little bit o chaos

There has been a bit of chaos at our house lately. Yes we're still unpacking boxes, trying to figure out what goes where and what to hang on the walls, but can I just say that a few SMALL things have really turned my life upside down. I have been furious over them, spent lots of dollars because of them, washed lots of dishes, cleaned and vacuumed floors, sanitized my whole oven and counter tops, spent lots of time on the phone discussing them, and have had chills run up and down my body every time I think of them. I keep thinking this has got to end....

It all began last week when we returned home from Oregon Tuesday night. Adam spotted one on our oven burner and then it crawled back behind the control panel (inside the oven). Ok, if that doesn't make you squirm, I was ready to vomit when he told me. An hour later he saw another one. When I learned about it of course I got on the phone with all the pest control companies I could call. I didn't dare walk into my kitchen for the rest of the day. Traps were put into place, bait blocks were set out and nothing.... Until yesterday morning of course. Caden was out at the kitchen table when all of the sudden he came running into my room saying he had heard it. Sure enough, there was one in the trap in the pantry. Adam finally took the trap outside on the back porch so we didn't have to hear it scratching and squeaking all day. The exterminator came today to pick up the trap and noticed that there wasn't only one but three of those little creatures trapped. I am so glad they are out of my house for good. I'm just holding my breath that none of their relatives will think that it's ok for my home to be their home.

P.S. I couldn't even look at this picture when I posted it, but just to help you get the idea of how grossed out I have been, I thought this might help you feel my pain! (I know this is a rat, and I'm talking about mice, but you get the picture) :)

Oh, Seri! What a fabulous way to be welcomed into your long awaited home! I am so sorry!! Right after we moved into our house, I started seeing small black spiders everywhere! I was about ready to move out, and then I didn't see any more. They must have found a home in my couches while we were storing them. Fun hu! Were you even able to sleep, because that would certainly keep me up at night! HOpe you are pest free from here on out, or you might need a little outside kitty:)

Seri-
Hey I'm snooping! I found a link to your blog through a comment you made on someone else's blog. I thought "How many Seri's can there be?!" You have a beautiful family. Three boys - WOW! You have your hands full! I too had to deal with mice in one of the places we lived - they are awful! The worst is when you get up at night with a baby and there they are to greet you in the kitchen. YUCK! I hope your problem is taken care of! It's good to "catch" up through blogging!
